About Dr. Julie

Julie Sieben, DC, BSN, RN

As a young gymnast Dr. Sieben suffered a low back injury that forced her to discontinue her passion, gymnastics, and caused concern for future athletic endeavors. It was with the help of Chiropractic care, physical rehabilitation, yoga and a positive attitude that Dr. Sieben is now a runner, cycler and general fitness junkie who has completed several Olympic distance triathlons, marathons, half-marathons, 5K and 10K races.

Dr. Sieben earned her Doctor of Chiropractic degree from New York Chiropractic College and her undergraduate degrees in Exercise Science and Nursing from the University of Massachusetts at Boston. She is currently working on her masters in adult gerontological advanced practice nursing, adding Nurse Practitioner (NP) to her credentials. She plans to integrate her primary care training as a Nurse Practitioner with Chiropractic medicine, offering patients the best of both worlds.

In addition to traditional Chiropractic techniques, Dr. Sieben is proficient in Activator Method, McKenzie Technique, Graston technique and myofascial release techniques. She educates patients on simple exercises, movements and healthy living advice to minimize pain and maximize function.

Dr. Sieben started her career in healthcare working in cardiac rehab and has been a group exercise instructor, yoga instructor and personal fitness trainer for over 15 years. She continues to both teach classes and offer personal training sessions at the Chatham Health and Swim Club.

She travels nationally and internationally as a “trainer of the trainers” teaching the seminars that certify personal fitness trainers and group exercise instructors.

She is the author of the book Six Weeks To Love Running and is one of the few Chiropractors credentialed at a major medical center, having been on staff as a Chiropractic physician at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

She lives in Orleans with her husband and two very active dogs (Viszla’s). In her spare time she runs with her dogs, lifts weights and plays the piano and sings with her husband, Greg Johnson, in his James Taylor Tribute Band.

Dr. Sieben is thrilled to be joining the team at Singleton Chiropractic! With her nursing and fitness background she offers a unique perspective to her Chiropractic practice which serves her patients well.

She looks forward to helping you in a variety of ways, and is particularly interested in the following:

Therapeutic Exercises - Designed to improve function, strength, mobility and flexibility. This helps us move better, feel better, stay injury free and improves the overall quality of life. Great for every day athletes.

Soft Tissue work - Dr. Sieben is trained in myofascial release, trigger point therapy, assisted stretching and other forms of soft tissue/muscle work. This kind of work can help “hold” adjustments, release tension, break up scar tissue, free entrapped nerves, diminish pain and improve function. Good for “itis’s”(such as tendonitis) and every day athletes.

Fitness Programming - There are 4 components of fitness: Cardiorespiratory, Muscular Strength/Endurance, Flexibility and Body Composition (healthy weight). Do you tend to them all? All four areas must be optimized for improved vitality, health, energy and mood. Dr. Sieben works with you to put together an appropriate program for you to do on your own in consideration of your unique needs and/or limitations such as low back injury, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis and limited mobility.
